約28グラムに相当する重さの単位。わずかな量を表す比喩的表現としても使われることがある。

主にアメリカやイギリスで重さを量る時（食品や貴金属など）に使われます。『not an ounce of』で「全く〜がない」という意味になります。日本では一般的ではありません。

This recipe needs one ounce of cheese.
