用來表示正確或建議的行為，語氣類似於“should”（應該）。

“Ought”比“should”正式或較舊，但意思相近。通常後接“to”加動詞（如“ought to help”）。在現代英語，疑問句及否定句多用“should”。“Ought”不用於表強制性很強的義務（如“must”）。
