Definition

すでに言及されていない、または含まれていない別の人や物を指すときに使います。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

必ず複数形で使い、グループの他の人や物を指します。単数の場合は「another」や「other」を使います。「the others」で「残りの人たち」という意味になります。

Examples

Some people like tea, others prefer coffee.

紅茶が好きな人もいれば、**他の人たち**はコーヒーを好みます。

I finished early. The others are still working.

私は早く終わりました。**他の人たち**はまだ働いています。

Some students were late, but the others arrived on time.
