特別でも珍しくもない、ごくありふれた状態や物、人を指します。日常生活でよく見かけるものです。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「特別な（special）」や「珍しい（unusual）」と対比して使われます。「ordinary day」=「いつも通りの日」、「ordinary people」=「普通の人々」。やや否定的に「つまらない」というニュアンスを含む場合もあります。
