Definition

天体や人工衛星などが他の天体の周りを巡る曲線の道筋が「軌道」です。動詞としては、何かの周りを円や楕円状に動くことも指します。

主に科学や技術、天文学の文脈で使います。「in orbit」「地球を周回する」「軌道に乗る」などの表現が一般的です。日常の単なる回転には「circule」や「go around」を使います。

The Earth moves in an orbit around the sun.
