まったく反対であること、または正面に位置していることを指します。文によって形容詞、名詞、前置詞として使えます。

'the opposite of'は明確な対義を示し、'opposite sides'や'sit opposite me'は物理的な位置や方向の反対を指します。単なる「違い」とは異なり、必ずしも正反対を表します。
