何かや誰かに意見や行動で反対していることを表します。また、全く逆の立場や向かい合っていることも意味します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

多くの場合「to」と一緒に使われる（例：'opposed to an idea'）。日常会話では'against'のほうが直接的でよく使われますが、'opposed'はややフォーマルで書き言葉やニュースに適します。「相反する見解」など、対立や正反対の意味でも使われます。
