"ones" in Japanese

ものやつ

Definition

「ones」は直前に出た物や人などを繰り返さずに指す代名詞で、主に物や種類に使います。複数形を表します。

書き言葉や丁寧な場面でよく使います。「赤いもの」など形容詞と一緒に使うことが多いです。人の場合にはあまり使いません。「もの」「やつ」は物や種類を指します。

I like the green ones best.

私は緑の**もの**が一番好きです。

These cookies are sweeter than the other ones.

このクッキーは他の**もの**より甘いです。

Can I have one of those red ones?

あの赤い**もの**の一つもらっていいですか？

The new ones arrived this morning.

新しい**もの**は今朝届きました。
