Definition

एक गाढ़ा तरल पदार्थ जो खाना पकाने, ईंधन और कई उत्पादों में उपयोग होता है। इसका मतलब वनस्पति तेल भी हो सकता है और जमीन से निकाला गया पेट्रोलियम भी।

'Oil' आमतौर पर uncountable noun है: 'some oil' या 'a bottle of oil' कहा जाता है, 'an oil' आमतौर पर नहीं, जब तक किसी खास प्रकार के तेल की बात न हो। सामान्य संयोजन हैं 'olive oil', 'cooking oil', 'oil prices' और 'oil spill'। कारों में 'oil' अक्सर इंजन ऑयल के लिए आता है।
