Definition

何かを特定の目的で注意深く見ること。また、ルールや習慣を守る意味もある。

主に科学的やフォーマルな場面で使うことが多い。「observed behavior」は行動観察を意味する。行事・ルールを守る時にも使う。「noticed」や「watched」とはニュアンスが異なるので注意。

The scientist observed the stars through a telescope.

科学者は望遠鏡で星を**観察した**。
