권위 있는 사람이 시키는 대로 하거나, 규칙이나 법, 지시를 따르는 것. 주로 부모님, 선생님, 법 등에 대해 사용됩니다.

'obey the law', 'obey orders', 'obey your parents'와 같이 자주 쓰입니다. 단순히 '듣다'보다 더 강하게 '명령을 따른다'는 의미입니다. 일상에서 다소 공식적·딱딱하게 들릴 수 있습니다.
