権力のある人の指示や、規則・命令などに従うこと。親や先生、法律などに使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「obey the law」や「obey your parents」などの形で使われます。「listen to」よりも強く、命令に従うニュアンスがあり、ちょっと硬い表現です。

Examples

Children should obey their parents.

子供は親の言うことに**従う**べきです。

Everyone must obey the law.

みんなは法律に**従う**べきです。

The dog will obey simple commands.

その犬は簡単な命令には**従う**でしょう。
