手でボートをこいだり方向転換したりするための、先端が平らな長い棒状の道具。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

通常は複数形で使い、小型ボートによく使われます。'take up the oars' は漕ぎ始めること、'rest on your oars' は努力をやめる意味（比喩的）。パドル（paddle）とは形や用途が異なるので混同しないように注意。
