公式に誰かに何かを知らせること。ビジネスやシステムメッセージ、学校などでよく使われます。

「notify」は「tell」より丁寧・公式な言い方です。「〜に通知する」「〜へ知らせる」という形で使われ、学校やアプリなどでよく使われます。受動態（通知される）も多いです。

Please notify the teacher if you will be late.

遅れる場合は先生に**通知してください**。
