とてもカジュアルに「いいえ」と返事する時に使う言葉です。友達同士やリラックスした場面で使います。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「ううん」や「いや」はカジュアルで、メールや会話でよく使うが、目上の人やフォーマルな場では使わない。

Examples

“Do you want tea?” “Nope.”

彼が疲れてるか聞いたら、「**ううん**」って言った。

I asked if he was tired, and he said, “Nope.”

Is this your bag? Nope, mine is black.

“Did you finish the report?” “Nope, still working on it.”

I thought the store was open, but nope—it closes at six.

You think I’m going to do that for free? Nope.
