かつて黒人を指して使われていた差別的な言葉であり、現在では非常に不適切とされている語です。歴史資料や引用の中でしか使いません。

現代では使用禁止の単語です。主に歴史や古い文献、引用の際にのみ使われます。「Negroes」は絶対に会話で使わないでください。
