Que está perto de onde você está ou de outro lugar, não longe. Pode ser usado como adjetivo antes de um substantivo ou como advérbio depois de um verbo.

É muito comum no inglês do dia a dia. Como adjetivo: 'a nearby store'. Como advérbio: 'She lives nearby'. 'Very nearby' não é tão comum; em conversa, 'really close' soa mais natural. 'Near' é mais amplo, enquanto 'nearby' normalmente sugere distância física.
