Definition

何かを無音にする、または聞こえなくすること。特に電子機器について使う。形容詞では話せない人を指すこともある。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

'Mute'は動詞（to mute the TV）と形容詞（a mute person）で使う。電子機器で一時的に音を消す時に多用。人に対しては失礼になることがあるので、'nonverbal'などを使ったほうがよい。
