ब्रिटिश अंग्रेज़ी में "moustache" और अमेरिकी में "mustache" है। केवल ऊपरी होंठ के बाल को कहते हैं, दाढ़ी (beard) को नहीं। "घनी मूंछ" जैसी अभिव्यक्तियाँ सामान्य हैं।
