Un motel es un alojamiento sencillo pensado especialmente para personas que viajan en coche, normalmente con habitaciones que dan directamente al área de estacionamiento. Suele usarse para estancias cortas durante viajes por carretera.

Es muy común en el inglés americano y se asocia mucho con los viajes por carretera. Un 'motel' suele ser más sencillo y más barato que un 'hotel'. En algunas regiones también puede dar la idea de un lugar más viejo o de bajo presupuesto, según el contexto.
