何かを行う特定の方法やスタイル。テクノロジーでは、デバイスやアプリの特定の設定や機能を指します。

主に「サイレントモード」や「ポートレートモード」などテクノロジー関連で用いられるが、「伝達手段（mode of communication）」のように一般的な方法にも使う。'mood'（気分）や 'modem'（モデム）と混同しないように。
