어떤 주의나 목적을 위해 적극적이고 때로는 공격적인 행동을 하는 사람을 말함.

주로 정치, 사회 운동에서 극단적이거나 공격적으로 행동하는 사람이나 집단에 쓰임. 'militant group'은 '과격파 집단'으로 표현됨. 'military'와 혼동하지 않도록 주의.
