"meantime" in Japanese
Definition
ある出来事と次の出来事の間の時間、またはその期間中に何かが起こることを指します。何かを待っている間に起きることについて話すときによく使います。

多くの場合「in the meantime」の形で使われます。「meantime」単独はやや堅い印象です。何かを待つ間に行う一時的な行動によく用いられます。
Examples
Dinner will be ready in an hour. In the meantime, you can set the table.

I have to wait for the bus. What should I do in the meantime?
