婦長は病院などでスタッフを管理する女性や、地域で尊敬される年配の既婚女性を指します。

日本では主に医療現場や寮などで使われます。「婦長」は正式職名として使われますが、日常会話では古風な印象があります。「寮母」は寄宿舎等で使われます。
