威厳とは、崇高で立派な様子や、尊敬に値する堂々とした力を持つことです。また、王や女王への正式な敬称としても使われます。

日常会話よりも、文語やフォーマルな場面、または自然などの壮大さを表す際に使われます。『Your Majesty』は王や女王への敬称、『the majesty of the mountains』は自然の偉大さを表現します。'majority' とは意味が異なります。
