تستخدم للحركة الفعلية ('lowers his head')، أو للكميات والمستويات ('lowers the price')، وأحيانًا مجازياً مثل ('lowers expectations'). صيغة المضارع المفرد. لا تخلط بينها وبين 'lowest' (الأدنى) أو 'flowers' (زهور). من التراكيب الشائعة: 'lowers her voice'، 'lowers the temperature'.
