「listened」は「listen」の過去形で、誰かの話や音に注意を払って聞いたことを表します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

'listen'は意識的に耳を傾けること。一方、'hear'は自然に聞こえる場合。'listen to music'や'listen to me'など、目的語の前に'to'を付けて使います。過去形でも同様です。
