Definition

暴風雨中天空中出現的明亮電光。它發生得非常快，而且後面常常會有雷聲。

在一般表述中通常作不可數名詞：'There was a lot of lightning.' 如果要說一次可見的電光，常用 'a flash of lightning'。不要和 'lightening' 混淆，後者表示「使更淺、更亮或更輕」。

We saw lightning in the sky last night.
