文字手紙

Definition

アルファベットのAやBなど、単語を作るための記号。また、誰かに送る手紙の意味もある。

学習ではアルファベットの『文字』の意味で使われ、郵便やフォーマルな場面では『手紙』になる。『capital letters（大文字）』や『letters of complaint（苦情の手紙）』などで使われ、『lyrics（歌詞）』と混同しないよう注意。

The child knows all the letters in the alphabet.

その子どもはアルファベットのすべての**文字**を知っています。

Please write your name in capital letters.

お名前を大きな**文字**（大文字）で書いてください。

She got three letters in the mail today.
