置く産む（卵を）

Definition

「lay」の三人称単数現在形で、物を平らに置くことや鳥や動物が卵を産むことを表します。

主語が he/she/it の場合に使います。「lays the book」は物を置く、「lays eggs」は卵を産む。'lie'（横たわる）や 'lays out'（並べる）とは異なります。

She lays the keys on the table every night.

彼女は毎晩鍵をテーブルの上に**置く**。

The chicken lays eggs in the morning.

ニワトリは朝卵を**産む**。

He lays his bag on the floor when he gets home.

彼は帰宅するとカバンを床に**置く**。

My cat always lays in the sun and looks so relaxed.
