溶岩

Definition

火山の噴火時に噴き出し、山の斜面を流れる高温の溶けた岩石。

「溶岩」は火山から流れ出した溶けた岩石のみを指し、他の熱い液体には使いません。「マグマ」とは地下にある状態を指し、噴出後は「溶岩」です。「溶岩流」「溶岩原」「溶岩噴火」などの表現でよく使われます。
