入居者に物件や部屋を貸す女性。昔は宿屋や下宿などを営む女性も指しました。

男性は 'landlord' と呼ばれます。最近では 'landlord' が男女両方に使われることもありますが、イギリス英語では 'landlady' も一般的です。例:「私の女家主」「パブの女主人」。
