'Laid' es el pasado y participio de 'lay'. Significa poner algo en un lugar con cuidado o, en el caso de las aves, producir huevos.

No confundas 'lay' con 'lie'. 'Lay' normalmente lleva objeto: pones algo en algún lugar. Patrones comunes: 'laid the book on the table', 'laid the baby in bed', 'laid eggs'. 'Laid-back' es un adjetivo aparte con otro significado.
