人を違法に力や脅しで連れ去ること。多くの場合、身代金目的や相手をコントロールするために行われ、重大な犯罪です。

主に犯罪やニュース、法律の場面で使われます。「kidnap」は動詞、「kidnapping」は名詞です。「誰かを誘拐する」など人に使います。「abduct」はより形式的で警察用語に近いです。
