Definition

사방이 물로 둘러싸인 땅. 크기가 작을 수도, 클 수도 있고, 어떤 섬에는 마을이나 숲, 해변이 있다.

주로 바다, 강, 호수 안의 육지 조각을 이른다. 'desert island', 'tropical island', 'island nation'과 같은 표현에 자주 쓰인다.

We saw a small island from the boat.

우리는 배에서 작은 **섬**을 보았다.
