사실을 밝히기 위해 정보를 확인하거나 질문하거나 꼼꼼히 살펴보는 과정입니다. 주로 경찰 수사, 문제 해결, 사고 조사, 과학 연구 등에서 사용됩니다.

'조사하다'는 'looking into'보다 더 격식 있고 목적이 명확하게 느껴집니다. '범죄 조사', '원인 조사' 등에서 자주 쓰이며, 단순히 찾아보는 것이 아니라 적극적으로 파악하는 과정입니다.
