‘현직자’는 특히 정치 등에서 현재 그 자리를 차지하고 있는 사람을 말합니다. 또한 ‘의무가 있다’는 뜻으로도 쓰입니다.

공적인, 정치적인 상황에서 자주 사용됩니다(예: 현직 대통령). 의무를 나타내는 경우 'it is incumbent upon...' 식으로도 씁니다.
