कैद वह स्थिति है जिसमें किसी को सज़ा या ज़बरदस्ती से जेल में रखा जाता है।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

आमतौर पर औपचारिक या कानूनी शब्द; 'आजीवन कैद' (life imprisonment) शब्द आम है। शारीरिक या प्रतीकात्मक बंधन के लिए भी प्रयोग होता है। आम वाक्य: 'कैद का सामना करना', 'कैद से रिहा होना'। जानवरों के लिए नहीं प्रयोग होता।
