非常に大きい、または非常に膨大なこと。普通よりはるかに大きい場合に使う。

「immense」は「enormous」「huge」などより文学的・フォーマルな響きです。「immense power」「immense relief」など重要さや圧倒的な度合いを表す時によく使います。小さいものには使いません。

The mountain is immense.
