Definition
Ciddi şekilde hasta ve ömrünün sonuna yaklaşmış kişilere bakım ve destek sağlayan özel bir yer veya programdır. Amaç, hastalığı tedavi etmekten çok hastanın ve ailesinin rahatını sağlamaktır.

Daha çok tıbbi ve sosyal bakımda, yaşamın son evresinde kullanılır. 'Hastane'den farklıdır; tedavi değil konfor sunar. Resmi ve tarafsız ortamlar için uygundur.
