何か良いことが起こることを願ったり、そう信じたりする気持ちや状態。'hope'（希望する）の進行形で、現在の願望を表す。

「hoping for ～」「hoping that ～」のような使い方が一般的です。「I'm hoping...」は「I hope...」より丁寧・やわらかい印象があります。「waiting」と混同しないように注意しましょう。「hoping」は願望を表します。

I am hoping for good weather tomorrow.

明日天気が良くなることを**望んでいる**。

She is hoping to see her friend today.

彼女は今日友達に会えることを**望んでいる**。
