Definition
Um hole é um espaço vazio ou uma abertura em algo sólido, no chão ou numa superfície. Pode ser pequeno, como numa camisa, ou grande, como numa estrada.

Usa-se tanto para aberturas em objetos como para buracos no chão. A estrutura 'a hole in' é muito comum: 'a hole in my sock', 'a hole in the wall'. Para dano em tecido, 'hole' soa mais natural do que 'opening'. Também aparece em expressões figuradas como 'in a hole' (em apuros) e 'black hole'.
