競馬場や古代ギリシャ・ローマ時代の戦車レース用に使われた大きな競技場や劇場です。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「競馬場」は日常的に使われますが、「ヒッポドローム」は歴史的な施設や固有名詞として使われることが多いです。普通のスタジアムには使いません。
