乗り物やプロセスなどを強制的に奪い取り、自分の要求を通すために支配下に置くこと。

主に飛行機などの乗り物を乗っ取る場合（例: 'hijack a plane'）や、議論などを無理やり掌握する場合（例: 'hijack the discussion'）に使われます。日常の軽い盗みには使いません。フォーマルやニュースでよく使われる言葉です。
