「高い」の最上級で、ほかと比べて一番上や量・レベルが高いことを表します。

名詞の前で使われることが多いです（例：the highest score、the highest mountain）。高さだけでなく、値段・温度・順位などにも使えます。多くの場合、“the”をつけて使います。
