Definition

呪いとは、誰かに不運や害をもたらすと信じられている魔法や呪文のことです。

日常会話や物語、昔話でよく使われます。『put a hex on』は『呪いをかける』という意味です。正式な宗教的『curse（呪い）』ほど強い意味はありません。冗談や軽い気持ちで使われることも多いです。

The old witch put a hex on the village.

その老いた魔女は村に**呪い**をかけた。

He believes someone put a hex on his car.

彼は誰かが自分の車に**呪い**をかけたと信じている。
