群れ群れを追う (動詞)

Definition

同じ種類の動物が大勢集まり一つの集団となったもの。特に牛や羊、象などを指す動詞では集団で動かす意味もあります。

主に動物の集団を表す名詞。鳥や魚の場合は通常'flock'や'school'を使う。動詞で使う場合、人や動物を誘導するニュアンスがある。

We saw a herd of cows in the field.

私たちは野原で牛の**群れ**を見た。

The elephants stayed close to the herd.

象は**群れ**のそばを離れなかった。

The farmer herded the sheep into the barn.

農家は羊を**群れ**にして納屋にいれた。
