Definition

服や布の端を折り返して縫った部分を指します。特にスカートやズボン、袖口などで使います。動詞として「裾を縫う」という意味もあります。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に洋服や縫製の場面で使います。『let down a hem』は丈を長くすること、『to hem a dress』は裾を縫うことを意味します。「あへん」と勘違いしないようにしましょう。
