Definition

船を操縦するための舵や舵輪。また、組織や集団を率いる立場を指すこともある。

船の操縦以外に、比喩的に「グループを率いる」「指揮を執る」という意味でも使われる。'take the helm'は主導権を握ることを指す。'helmet'とは別。

He stood at the helm of the ship.
