Birinin ölümünden sonra o kişinin para, mülk veya unvanını devralacak kişidir. Genellikle aileden biri olur.
Usage Notes (Turkish)
Hem hukuki hem de günlük dilde kullanılır. 'Heir apparent' (kesin varis), 'heir presumptive' (muhtemel varis) daha teknik terimlerdir. Sembolik ve manevi şeyler için de kullanılabilir.
